Site Security Policy

This web site,, and also called 'ABSite' accessible through this portal (collectively, the "Site"), are published and maintained by The American Bible Society ("ABS"), and are in accordance with its policies. You can e-mail us at

Any 'linked' site accessible through, but which is not an ABSite, will have its own privacy policy that is specific to such site. When you access, browse or use such linked site you accept the terms and conditions of any privacy policies governing such sub site. Our policy regulating all ABSites is simple:

The American Bible Society is committed to protecting your privacy. We allow you to provide as much personal information - or as little - as you feel comfortable providing. We do not release personal information about anyone to any third party. We guarantee your privacy, regardless of how much information you provide.

We will not willfully disclose information that can identify you personally to a third party without your prior consent. You control what personal information you provide to us on-line, and what we can do with such information. You may provide us information about yourself to help us make our web sites more responsive to you.

We may ask you to supply personal information to us on-line, including your email address, during a 'registration' process. Some of this information is given voluntarily, and the word 'optional' appears next to the relevant questions. On occasion, we collect additional personal information in optional survey forms, order forms, donation forms and conference registration forms. Demographic information voluntarily provided by you may be combined with site usage reports to create a profile of users and user preferences in the content provided.

"Tracking" Information

ABS assigns a random number anonymously to each user for tracking content preferences and traffic patterns. This random number enables us to record how many times customers access certain pages, without 'naming' whom those customers are. This random number, called a "cookie" is kept in a file on your computer. Cookies by themselves cannot be used to determine the identity of any user. We also log IP addresses, or the location of your computer on the Internet, for systems administration. These IP addresses are not linked to anything personally identifiable.

What ABS does with the 'Tracking' Information

We use the information you provide to personalized portions of the site, so that you receive content that is of most useful to you. Other information enlightens our development of products and services, making them more responsive to your needs. We ask for some optional information so we can maintain a dialog further with you about our new products, services or undertakings. We will only contact you if you permit us to do so. In each email we may send you, you will have the option to unsubscribe and not receive future email from us. Please review our Opt-Out Policy for how to avoid receiving any email altogether. On occasion, we also ask for additional personal information in optional survey forms, order forms, donation forms and conference registration forms. Such demographic information, voluntarily provided by you, is sometimes combined with site usage reports to create a profile of users and their preferences.

If at any time you want to be removed from our database, or to "opt-out" of receiving further communications, simply contact us in any of the following ways:
